Overview

Salvage explores ideas surrounding our disposable consumer mentality and sustainability. By recycling can lids into ferrotype photograms using collected plant material, wet plate collodion (a 19th Century photographic process), and light, little worlds are created to highlight the beauty and fragility of the natural environment; plant material used to create the imagery indicates growth, biodiversity, and potential regeneration. Taking a moment to step back and look at the landscape from a different perspective, and see ourselves reflected within the vignette, offers a renewed appreciation of the beauty of our planet and the need to be better stewards of the environment.” – Heather F.
