Topher Straus

Overview

Captivated by the natural world and committed to conservation, Topher Straus has developed a unique way of painting landscapes. Rendering imagery with a digital brush and an innovative process, he immerses himself in the painting through VR goggles, Straus is able to make choices and play with color while surrounded by the scene.

Born in Colorado in 1974, Topher Straus comes from a family with Western pioneer roots and a notably deep commitment to the arts. He graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Film Art and has a background in apprenticing Hollywood filmmakers, as well as directing several of his own narrative and documentary films. He now works from his mountainside studio in Denver, Colorado, and is on a mission to complete images of every National Park in America. His work has been exhibited and collected throughout the US and overseas. Topher Straus is also passionately committed to philanthropic work involving arts education and nature conservation.
