Sharon Berebichez

Overview

Sharon Berebichez's mixed-media paintings, incorporating oil paint and embroidery, and her sculptures made from found objects, investigate mental health by reimagining domestic spaces and the meaning of “home.” Through a process-oriented approach, she crafts tactile experiences using embellished surfaces, layered textiles, and detailed beadwork that encourage close examination and reflection. The physical properties of her materials—texture, color psychology, and sensory engagement—are central to her exploration of identity. Repetition functions as a meditative practice, deepening her connection to her roles as a Jewish woman, mother, wife, educator, and native of Mexico City.

"My work is rooted in the repetition of movement and the creation of patterns as a meditative practice. Through embroidery, fiber, sculpture, ceramics, and mixed media, I explore themes of identity, migration, memory, and belonging. "  -- Sharon Berebichez
