Ani Kasten’s highly textural ceramic vessels have a deconstructed aesthetic. Different types of clay and crusty glazes combine with ceramic detritus to create raw and dynamic surface qualities. The vessel forms are irregular and often include wire stitching and patched details. With each examination, the work reveals itself more – offering an investigation on the materiality of stoneware, porcelain and locally sourced wild clays.
Kasten's show, Mending Work, will be on view at Momentum Gallery until April 30. We invite you to come view these works in person, or dive into our online gallery and immerse yourself in Kasten's work.
