Jennifer Halvorson

Overview
Jennifer Halvorson’s sculptures explore the simple beauty of familiar household objects that she has cast, manipulated or collaged to evoke a range of emotions and nostalgia. Her glasswork transports and connects viewers both to their personal memories of family and childhood and to society's collective, sometimes blurred, remembrance of the past.

I am interested in studying domestic symbols expressing the fragments of one’s remembered and forgotten past. Objects remind us of a past time, or a past person, or a past experience. They become symbols to us. Examining everyday objects within the home, I aim to alter or combine forms in ways to illustrate their emotional significance. I utilize found objects for inspiration, modeling, or collage within the final sculpture. Working with a range of materials within glass, metal, and fibers I aim to add a deeper history to my composed narratives." – Jennifer Halvorson
