New Works | Old Friends celebrates the enduring creative relationships that have shaped the spirit of Momentum Gallery in downtown Asheville. This multi-disciplinary exhibition brings together a remarkable group of artists whose longstanding ties to the gallery reflect years of shared vision, collaboration, and artistic evolution.

The exhibition presents an expansive array of media and approaches. Dreamlike cyanotype paintings glow with atmospheric depth, while richly layered abstracts pulse with color and gesture. Sculptural works command attention in glass, metal, ceramic, and wood, each material transformed through mastery and imagination into forms that captivate and inspire.

Curated by Jordan Ahlers, this first-floor takeover brings together a distinguished group of artists with deep roots in the gallery’s history. The exhibition features inaugural gallery artists Michael Barringer, Mariella Bisson, Vicki Grant, and Ron Isaacs, alongside Casey Roberts—represented since the gallery’s first year—as well as John Littleton and Kate Vogel, and John Cleaveland, who have worked closely with Ahlers in Asheville for more than 27 years. Joined by Jason DeMeo, Michael Enn Sirvet, Gil Bruvel, Alli Hoag, and others, the exhibition honors both legacy and continued momentum. These new works reflect not only the evolution of each artist’s individual practice but also the strength of the creative community that has grown and flourished within the gallery’s walls.

At once a homecoming and a forward-looking celebration, New Works | Old Friends conveys the power of sustained artistic dialogue—an exhibition rooted in history yet alive with fresh expression and continued exploration.
